A New Year

Although it is still quite early in the year, the band has already been very busy.

The band has taken part in Flute Band Association contest, preparations for which take up a lot of time and effort for the band and it's members. The Flute Band Association contest consists of a Melody and Grade Four Section. This year, the band chose to play King Cotton in the Melody section, and Tico Tico followed by True Comrades in Arms for the Grade Four section.

Unfortunately, the band were not as successful this year as we have been in previous years, coming 3rd in the Melody and 2nd in the Grade Four section. However we wish to pass on our congratulations to the Ballycoan for their success in this years competition. Their playing was excellent and, as always, to a very high standard and very enjoyable to listen to. Also congratulations to the Sir George White Memorial who we feel are coming on leaps and bounds after taking a break from the competition scene for a few years. The other band to compete on the day were Ballinran, who also played an enjoyable set. The quality of the bands on the day shows the overall strength of the Grade Four bands in this country.

Millenium Forum Concert

Also this year, the band has played at The Millenium Forum in Londonderry, in support and recognition for the Cathedral Youth Club and it's work over the years. Unfortunately we were not allowed to make recordings of this, but we were happy to support the youth club in this event.
