Recent Events

First of all, apologies for the lack of updates recently. However this does not mean the band has not been busy.

We have now added a few marches to to the list that we play on the street, namely King Cotton, and 1914. These are hugely popular when played wherever we go, and also enjoyable to play.

Churchill Flute Band CD Launch

There has always been a very close association between the Churchill Flute Band and The William King Memorial Flute Band, and so we were delighted to take part in the launch night of their new CD. The band played a varied programme including pieces such as Tico Tico, Stars & Stripes Forever, Irish Jigs and our now very popular Shanghai Lil. It was a great night, and a celebration of not only the Churchill's new CD, but the band themselves. They are a credit to the city of Londonderry, and are highly respected throughout the country. Their new CD, The Freedom of the City, is now available to buy. For more information, go to their website by clicking the link below.

Ballyrashane 100th Anniversary Parade

The band travelled to Coleraine to take part in Ballyrashane Flute Band's parade celebrating their 100th anniversary. An amazing achievement. The band wish to pass on their congratulations to them, and wish for continued success in the future.

Battle of The Somme Parade

On Wednesday 2nd July the band took part in the Number 1 District's parade to remember those who died in The Battle of the Somme. This year the parade took place in Newbuildings. The band, as always, are honoured to take part in events commemorating those who died.

12th July Celebrations

Saturday 12th July saw the band parading in Londonderry before travelling to Coleraine to take part in the annual 12th July celebrations. Conditions were perfect for this years celebration, with an excellent turn out of bands, lodges, and spectactors. There was a great atmosphere at this years parade, and was thoroughly enjoyed by those marching and watching.

Below are a few photos of the band on parade in Coleraine.

With the number of new members increasing, and with the continued hard work and dedication of all our members and friends who help and support the band, we hope to continue to improve and carry on going from strength to strength.
